Visit to Bupa Aged Care in St Ives

It was great to visit the Bupa Aged Care facility in St Ives, where I met a number of residents including Neville, a retired journalist.

All of the residents at Bupa St Ives have received both rounds of the COVID-19 vaccine, and feel safer for it.

Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize

It was a pleasure to provide the opening address at the 2021 Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize – won this year by Caroline Rothwell’s ‘Vault’.

The Prize is an initiative of Ravenswood School for Girls, aimed at advancing art and opportunity for women in Australia.

Congratulations to those artists, both emerging and established who had works on display.

Visit to Guru Nanak Gurudwara Turramurra Sikh Temple

I had the pleasure of attending the 400th Birthday celebrations for Guru Tegh Bahadur – one of the founders of Sikhism, at the Guru Nanak Gurudwara Turramurra Sikh Temple.

Visit to All Saints Airforce War Memorial Church

The All Saints Airforce War Memorial Church in West Lindfield runs a 22-kilowatt solar system on their roof, increasing their energy efficiency and ensuring that the running of their church is environmentally sustainable.

The Church was a recipient of the Solar Communities Grant, which covered the cost of installing their new solar panels.

Visit to Movandi in Lindfield

I visited tech company Movandi – who are based in the CSIRO building in Lindfield.

Managing director at Movandi, Mike Boars, and his team designs and manufactures micro-chips, antennae and other technology for use within the 5G network – with some impressive applications in the pipeline.

With a workforce of highly specialised engineers, Movandi is a great example of a high tech Aussie business attracting world-class talent to our shores.

Opening of ‘Pinch Point’ works in Warrawee

I joined Member for Ku-ring-gai, Alister Henskens and the team from Transport for NSW for the official opening of the ‘pinch point’ works near the intersection of Finlay Road and Pacific Hwy.

$2 million in state and federal funding has been allocated to easing traffic along the highway here – great news nearby Warrawee Public School, and great news for local commuters!

Visiting Knox Grammar Prep and Lindfield East Public School

For many students in Years 5 and 6, the Canberra trip is a highlight of their studies in civics and citizenship. Sadly, the COVID-19 pandemic made it impossible for some schools to visit Canberra this year.

To make up for this missed opportunity, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Hon. Tony Smith MP, travelled to Bradfield to join me in speaking with Year 6 at Knox Grammar Prep School and Year 5 and 6 at Lindfield East Public School. It was great to answer questions from students about Australia’s parliament, and my responsibilities as the Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts.

Catch Up with Michelle from LBDF

Great to catch up with Michelle from Little Blue Dinosaur, which does fantastic work advocating for child pedestrian safety. We chatted about the upcoming release of Tom’s Holiday, a story about the importance of looking out for kids on the roads.

Tom’s Holiday is out this week, in time for National Road Safety Week – an important reminder as we approach the holiday period. I encourage parents to pick up a copy to include on your children’s bookshelves.

Visit littlebluedinosaur.org to learn more.

You can watch the video of myself and Michelle here.

Glad to host a community meeting in Pymble this week - the first since Covid hit.

Thanks to those who attended and for adapting to our new, covid safe format. Some interesting questions were raised and we were able to discuss the Government's plan for economic recovery.

The Australian offices of global pharmaceutical company Bayer are in Pymble, in my electorate. It was great to visit Bayer last week, to meet with staff and learn more about the company’s latest accomplishments.
