Giving Business a Boost: North Shore Times

Small Business Minister Bruce Billson and Bradfield Liberal MP Paul Fletcher addressed issues raised by business owners along the Pacific Highway including tax reform and government help.

Espresso Lindfield’s Duncan Dalgleish said it was a much-needed visit.

“It’s extremely important so they can keep in touch with everything on the ground. We’re all right. We do well. The Pacific Highway struggles but I’m near the station and I get the commuters,” he said.

Mr Billson highlighted the importance of small business. “Hearing the field evidence from small businesses on the ground is important feedback to ensure we can continue our work to make Australia the best place to start and grow a small business,” he said.

“As part of the budget we are working on a jobs and small business package in which we will see tax cuts for small business as an incentive for them to invest and employ in their local communities.”

Mr Fletcher said that his electorate had all types of small businesses.

“Small business is critical to our economy and it was a great opportunity for a range of different businesses to spend time with the minister discussing and debating issues of concern,” Mr Fletcher said.

“Bradfield is home to more than 16,000 small businesses.

“The industry sectors represented in Bradfield are as varied as you could imagine ... everything from agricultural supplies and food service to technology and professional services.”
