‘We get the Politicians we deserve’ declares 2nd Annual Bradfield Comedy Debate

Bradfield residents recently declared that ‘Australians do get the politicians they deserve’. This was the verdict of the more than 200 Bradfield Locals who were treated to a selection of oratory, amusement and verbal jousting at the Second Annual Bradfield Comedy Debate on Sunday October 28.

The event, organised by Member for Bradfield Paul Fletcher in conjunction with Lindfield Rotary raised over $10,000 for this year’s recipient charity – Studio Artes in Hornsby, which provides creative, arts, recreational and vocational programs with “whole of life” outcomes for adults with disabilities.

The affirmative team, who emerged victorious, were led by ABC online chief political commentator Annabel Crabb and included Writer-Director of ABC-TV’s Rake Peter Duncan and Media Executive Bruce Meagher.

The negative team were led by Paul Fletcher and included Arts Entrepreneur Jo Dyer and Barrister Dr Andrew Bell SC.

The event was chaired by Bradfield local and Radio and Network 10 TV Presenter Jono Coleman.

‘I was very pleased that we got such a good roll-up, that the audience enjoyed themselves so much, and that we were able to raise some funds towards the very valuable work of Studio Artes’, Mr Fletcher said.

‘I would like to thank our talented and witty speakers, our very funny Chair Jono Coleman, and everyone who came along.

‘Most importantly I want to thank our Principal Event Sponsor, McCarroll’s Automotive and Lexus of Chatswood, and our event sponsor Turramurra and Lindfield Community Banks and Ravenswood School for girls where we held the debate.

‘We are now looking forward to planning next year’s Bradfield Comedy Debate – and I hope we’ll get an even bigger crowd!’, Mr Fletcher concluded.
