Turnbull Government commits $3.8 million for Oceano Street upgrade

A re-elected Turnbull Government will provide $3.8 million for the vitally needed upgrade of Oceano Street in Copacabana, Minister for Major Projects, Paul Fletcher, and Member for Robertson, Lucy Wicks, announced today.

The project will involve upgrading of the full length of Oceano Street, which is currently impacted by potholes and poor surface quality. This funding will improve the safety of this road, which is currently hazardous to drivers due to its poor condition.

This road has been a key priority for Mrs Wicks, who said, “Copacabana residents know all too well how badly this street needs upgrading. Local residents, in particular the Copacabana Community Association, have consistently raised this street with me as a critical issue for this area.”

“I am very pleased to be able to announce this funding, which will enable the upgrade to be delivered in full”.

This commitment is in addition to the $2.75 million previously announced for vital road upgrades in the Peninsula, reflecting the strong advocacy of Lucy Wicks on behalf of local Robertson communities.

The Turnbull Government is spending a record $50 billion on infrastructure from 2013-14 to 2019-20 as part of our carefully structured economic plan to provide jobs and growth and a secure future for Australian families.
