Shadow Small Business Minister Visits Bradfield

11 April 2012

Shadow Small Business Minister Visits Bradfield The federal Shadow Minister for Small Business Bruce Billson visited Bradfield recently, holding a roundtable discussion with Small Business owners in Turramurra hosted by the Turramurra Chamber of Commerce and Paul Fletcher, Member for Bradfield. Mr Fletcher and Mr Billson then visited several small businesses around Turramurra.

‘We had members of the small business community telling us how tough the current climate is, and how much the current government is making it even harder for small business people,' Mr Fletcher said.

The discussions raised issues such as the need to remove regulation and red-tape, the struggle to compete with overseas markets including online shopping and the negative effect the Carbon Tax will have on local small businesses.

Mr Billson said that these issues were typical across the country.

‘These issues are obvious and widespread, yet the government offers no relief.'

‘The last five years of Labor government has seen over 16 000 new regulations placed on small business around Australia, almost one for each day since they took office.'

‘Only 70 regulations have been removed, just over one per month’

‘The impact of the carbon tax is crystal clear; it will be disastrous for small businesses’
