Re-elected Turnbull Governemnt to fund Stage 1 Badgally Upgrade

The Minister for Major Projects, Territories and Local Government Paul Fletcher and Macarthur MP Russell Matheson today announced $2 million in funding for Stage 1 of the Badgally Road upgrade from Eagle Vale Drive to Blaxland Road in Campbelltown, if the Turnbull Government is re-elected.

Minister Fletcher said: “The duplication of Badgally Road from Eagle Vale Drive to Blaxland Road is a vital project for Macarthur because it will improve links to Campbelltown CBD and major transport routes.

“This smart investment also anticipates the future development of the South West Growth Centre, providing easy access to this major economic hub that will drive jobs and growth into the future.”

Russell Matheson said: “Badgally Road is a key link road connecting Campbelltown to the M31 via the nearly completed $17.5 million Eagle Vale Drive upgrade, and will provide a fourth east-west connection to Camden.

“This critical piece of infrastructure will allow Campbelltown to develop as a regional city by opening up the western side of the CBD, and reinvigorating Queen Street and the city centre.”

This commitment comes on top of the Turnbull Government’s $50 million commitment for the upgrade of Appin Road, and in addition to its $6.5 billion investment in Western Sydney transport projects.

The Turnbull Government is spending a record $50 billion on land transport infrastructure as part of our carefully structured economic plan to provide jobs and growth and a secure future for Australian families.
