Paul Fletcher invites business to identify worst red tape

Paul Fletcher, Federal Member for Bradfield, has invited local small businesses to identify areas of red tape that can be cut as part of the Coalition’s Deregulation Taskforce established by the Federal Leader of the Opposition, Hon Tony Abbott MHR.

The Coalition’s Deregulation Taskforce, will be headed by Senator Arthur Sinodinos AO and will focus on cutting red tape that impacts jobs growth and productivity.  Senator Sinodinos was Chief of Staff to John Howard from 1997 – 2006.

“All throughout Bradfield small business people are telling me that red tape is getting worse.  Red tape takes small business people away from their families and hinders them from growing their businesses”, said Mr Fletcher.

“Since Labor was elected four years ago, the Federal Government has introduced over 12,835 new regulations and repealed only 58.

“Small businesses employ over 4 million Australians and they are being burdened with more and more red tape.

“Tony Abbott has set the target of reducing the cost of red tape by $1 billion per year at least for the first term of a Coalition Government.  Australia can’t afford to keep piling small businesses up with thousands of extra government regulations.

“We have already identified a number of practical measures to reduce the burden on small business such as simplifying the administration of compulsory superannuation payments and moving the administration of the government’s Paid Parental Leave Scheme from business to the government.”

Paul Fletcher said he encouraged anybody in Bradfield with an interest in reducing the cost and compliance burden on small business to send in a written submission to this important Taskforce.
