New Classrooms for Chromehurst School

Member for Bradfield Paul Fletcher MP today officially opened new facilities, including seven new classrooms,at Cromehurst School in Lindfield .

Students and staff at Cromehurst School now have full use of the seven new classrooms with breakout areas, a new administration area, toilet and shower facilities; and improved access to Building B, including a lift. The Australian Government provided $7.9 million in funding for the development.

Mr Fletcher attended the opening on behalf of Senator the Hon Scott Ryan, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Education and Training.

“I was pleased to visit Cromehurst and see firsthand the new facilities,” Mr Fletcher said.

“Students and the whole school community will benefit from using these new classrooms, and the improved access to the building.”

“These new classrooms take into account the latest in education research and will see students learn more effectively,” Mr Fletcher said.

Over the next four years, the Australian Government is contributing a record $64.5 billion to government, independent and Catholic schools – a $4.9 billion, or 37.2 per cent, increase from 2013-14 to 2017-18.

As well as delivering increased funding, the Australian Government is focussing on quality and choice for schools.

“While buildings alone do not make a great school, I hope students and staff will enjoy learning and be inspired by these new facilities,” Senator Ryansaid.

 “The Australian Government is committed to improving the quality of our schools and equipping students with the skills they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive world,” Senator Ryan said.
