METRONET Midland Station a step closer with preferred proponent chosen

Midland Junction Alliance (McConnell Dowell Constructors, Georgiou Group, Arcadis Australia and BG&E) has been named the preferred proponent to deliver the new METRONET Midland Station.

Work includes decommissioning and demolishing the existing 53-year-old train station and the design and construction of a new facility between Helena and Cale streets.

The station’s contemporary design will incorporate three platforms catering for up to six-cars, a publicly accessible pedestrian overpass connecting both sides of the railway, a bus interchange and cycling facilities.

Once open, the new station is expected to have 3,300 daily boardings, growing to 3,700 in 2031.

Passengers will have a 25-minute, two-zone journey to the Perth CBD.

The alliance contract is expected to be awarded later this year.

The project is jointly funded by the Australian and Western Australian governments, with the Australian Government committing $82.5 million.
