Media Release: WSA Co Request for Tender underway for airport’s initial earthworks

The first earthworks on the Western Sydney Airport site are on track to begin in the second half of this year, with WSA Co today releasing Requests for Tender for the Early Earthworks Package to companies selected through a Registration of Interest process. 

There has been strong local interest in the Early Earthworks package, with more than 12 companies invited to tender through a competitive process designed to achieve value-for-money services in the delivery of this critical infrastructure project.

The Early Earthworks package will include the movement of more than 1.8 million cubic metres of earth on the airport site, as well as road and drainage works.

Transmission line relocation works are already underway and WSA Co will release further packages of works to market as it continues to make progress towards an operational airport in 2026. 

Since its establishment in August last year, WSA Co has opened its headquarters in Liverpool, appointed Graham Millett as CEO, released its procurement strategy and announced its plans to support local jobs with targets for a local workforce of at least 30 per cent during construction, growing to a minimum of 50 per cent once the airport is fully operational. 

A centrepiece of the Western Sydney City Deal, the airport will support thousands of jobs and drive economic growth as the heart of the new Western Parkland City.
