Media Release: Western Sydney Airport headquarters opens in Liverpool

The headquarters of WSA Co – the company tasked with delivering the new Western Sydney Airport – was officially opened today in the heart of Liverpool with many community members turning out to greet the new company.

Minister for Urban Infrastructure, Paul Fletcher, who was joined by the Minister for Defence, Senator Marise Payne and Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller, said the opening of WSA Co’s office in Liverpool is an important next step in delivering the Western Sydney Airport by 2026.

“We expect that at its peak some 200 people will be working at WSA Co and of course locals here in Liverpool will be well placed to apply for those jobs,” Mr Fletcher said.

“Last week we announced the appointment of the final three WSA Co Board members and we now have the right mix of skills, expertise and local connections to deliver on the Government’s expectations for Western Sydney Airport.”

Minister for Defence and Senator for New South Wales Marise Payne said the new offices will be a modern home for WSA Co in the heart of Liverpool’s historic, and rapidly growing, CBD.

“Since its establishment in August, WSA Co has made significant progress towards delivering the airport, including the release of first tenders to market for enabling works that will see construction activities commence next year,“ Senator Payne said.

“The Turnbull Government’s $5.3 billion investment in Western Sydney Airport is part of an unprecedented spend on new transport infrastructure across Western Sydney.”

Liverpool City Council Mayor Wendy Waller said basing WSA Co in Liverpool is a vote of confidence for the area being a great place to do business.

“A central Liverpool location will make it easy for WSA Co to work with other great companies and institutions choosing to locate in Liverpool, including the Western Sydney University and the University of Wollongong,” Cr Waller said.

“Opening the headquarters of this company in Liverpool is a great day for high quality jobs in Western Sydney and we anticipate a huge boost to the local economy as new businesses are attracted here to supply WSA Co.”

WSA Co Board Chair Paul O’Sullivan and other company directors also attended the opening along with professionals now working for on the game-changing Western Sydney Airport project.

WSA Co is expected to expand over the coming months, with the appointment of its Chief Executive Officer and further staff joining the Liverpool office.
