Short Question Time a New Low in Accountability
Question Time today was shut down by Prime Minister Albanese just 48 minutes after it began.
The Government chose to face just 5 questions from the Opposition.
This sets a new low in parliamentary accountability – from a man who promised he would do politics differently.
Just weeks ago, the Labor Government varied the Standing Orders on the premise there would be 22 questions in total – but today there were only 14 questions in total.
The Opposition calls on the Government to cease ducking accountability and to hold a full Question Time every sitting day.
This is a pattern of behaviour in this Parliament that’s a long way from the new politics that Anthony Albanese promised.
