LABOR’S SILENCE OVER MYGOV USER AUDIT

The Albanese Labor Government continues to keep the public in the dark over the future of the vital online government services platform MyGov, having failed to respond to the MyGov User Audit it received six months ago today.

The MyGov User Audit, which was led by David Thodey AO and made public on 31 January 2023, made 20 recommendations to government.

Shadow Minister for Government Services and the Digital Economy Paul Fletcher said Labor’s refusal to respond is further proof that improving service delivery is a low priority for them.

“The report’s Panel asked for the government to respond by 1 July 2023, but that request was ignored,” Mr Fletcher said.

“A report that provides recommendations on how to improve the customer experience for Australians wanting to access vital services and payments should be a priority for Minister Shorten, but he seems more pre-occupied with playing politics.

“The Audit recommended that the government ‘urgently’ progress legislation on Digital ID, but Minister Gallagher recently stated that she didn’t want to be held to any legislative timeline.”

According to the Audit, independent economic analysis commissioned by Services Australia estimated that completing the program over four years would deliver net benefits of $3.2 billion over ten years.

It also praised the Coalition’s previous $200 million investment in myGov, which was part of the Coalition Government’s Digital Economy Strategy.

myGov is Australia's largest authenticated digital platform, with 25 million linked accounts and more than 1 million sign-ins each day.
