Local artists to receive Australia Council grant

Paul Fletcher, Federal Member for Bradfield has congratulated local residents Lauren Brincat and Michelle Cahill on receiving art project grants through the Australia Council’s September core grants program.

Total funding of $10.4 million was provided to 290 projects to be delivered by individuals, groups and small to medium arts organisations.
Mr Fletcher welcomed the Australian Government funding and congratulated Ms Brincat for her visual arts grant and Ms Cahill for her literature grant.
“These grants enrich our communities by giving our local artists opportunities to create new works, develop their professional skills and entertain both Australian and international audiences,” Mr Fletcher said.
Minister for the Arts, Mitch Fifield said the Australian Government is committed to supporting Australian artists and arts organisations, and providing opportunities for them to showcase their work to audiences.
The Australia Council’s core grants program supports the creation and presentation of new artistic work, increases access and participation in the arts across Australia, and builds the profile of Australian arts and culture both nationally and internationally.
