Joint Media Release: Supporting South Melbourne Residents to Look Good, Feel Good, and Find Work

The Morrison Government is investing in boosting the confidence of South Melbourne residents looking to find a job.

The Wear for Success program provides professional clothing and self-esteem courses for vulnerable member of the community at risk of long-term welfare dependence and those struggling to hold down a job.

Federal Minister for Families and Social Services Paul Fletcher said the funding of $200,000 for Wear for Success will go a long way in supporting thousands of residents across South Melbourne who would like to find a job, but don’t have the confidence to take those first steps.

“Programs such as Wear for Success are invaluable to communities and build the confidence of people struggling to find their first job or hold down a job.”

“The Morrison Government will provide a fair go for those who want to have a go, and having the confidence to put your hand up to find work is having a go,” said Mr Fletcher,

Liberal Candidate for Macnamara Kate Ashmor said this is funding to the community, as directed by the community, for the benefit of the community.

“Wear for Success epitomises dignity through work by empowering vulnerable members of the community by providing them with formal clothing and self-esteem courses to give them confidence and ability to enter the workforce and become active participants in the community,” said Ms Ashmor.

“This funding will help Wear for Success to expand its reach in South Melbourne and support more Australians entering the workforce.”
