Joint media release: Moggill Rd overpass

A re-elected Turnbull Government will provide funding to support the delivery of a pedestrian overpass at the Indooroopilly State School on Moggill Road in the electorate of Ryan.

The current crossing is characterised by high levels of pedestrian traffic, particularly as waiting school buses are stationed on the opposite side of the road. Construction of a pedestrian overpass at the site would separate pedestrian traffic from this busy road, allowing children to cross safely and reduce congestion.

A re-elected Turnbull Government will provide $3 million which will allow for detailed design work of the overpass to be carried out. The project will be delivered by the Brisbane City Council.

This funding comes on top of record commitments from the Turnbull Government in the Budget for local infrastructure of over $40 million for local councils and organisations in the electorate of Ryan in 2016/17. This includes $2.2 million in Black Spots funding, $18.7 million in Roads2Recovery funding as well as around $38 million in Financial Assistance Grants payments.

The Turnbull Government is investing $13.7 billion in Queensland infrastructure and is spending a record $50 billion on land transport infrastructure nationally as part of our carefully structured economic plan to provide jobs and growth and a secure future for Australian families.
