Improved NBN Business Satellite Service for regional Australia

NBN Co is continuing to deliver for regional Australia, today announcing improvements to the NBN Business Satellite Service, including lower wholesale prices and expanded coverage to include the entire Australian mainland and large surrounding islands.

Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities and the Arts, the Hon Paul Fletcher MP, said that businesses across the entirety of Australia will now have cheaper access to business-grade satellite services.

“In addition to the expanded coverage, NBN Co will reduce the wholesale price by approximately 40 per cent for the Business Satellite Service Access Bandwidth Service Level 3 dedicated product,” Minister Fletcher said.

“This will give businesses cheaper access to dedicated capacity and enjoy wholesale speeds of up to 50/13 Megabits per second, and also provide the option of unlimited data to provide the core connectivity required for critical business applications.”

Minister for Regional Health, Regional Communications and Local Government, the Hon Mark Coulton MP, said enhancing the business satellite service will enable more regional businesses to access the benefits of fast and reliable internet.

“The Government understands the benefit that improved connectivity can make to any operation, particularly in remote areas where the tyranny of distance is obvious.

“NBN’s Business Satellite Service will deliver a real improvement in connectivity for businesses in the most remote corners of the country, ensuring those working hard to create jobs and provide services in remote areas can keep up to speed with their city counterparts,” Minister Coulton said.

“This initiative builds on existing connectivity improvements the Governement is delivering through the Mobile Black Spot Program and Regional Connectivity Program.”
