Fletcher Welcomes Declaration Of Poll In Bradfield

Incoming Liberal Member for Bradfield Paul Fletcher today welcomed the declaration of the poll in the Bradfield by-election.

“I am pleased and honoured to have been formally declared the candidate elected to the House of Representatives for Bradfield,” Mr Fletcher said.

“I will do my very best to live up to the trust which the people of Bradfield have placed in me.”

“The successful by-election campaign was the result of hard work over many weeks by a large and committed team. I thank them all for their hard work.”

“Most of all, I thank the people of Bradfield.”

“I am very heartened that we have increased our vote in some areas from the 2007 election result. I believe that is because we highlighted issues of concern to the community in Bradfield, including health services, such as the crisis at Hornsby Hospital, over-development and Labor’s growing debt.”

“I will be a strong Liberal voice for Bradfield, on these and other issues, as I promised through the campaign that I would be.”

The declaration was made by the Australian Electoral Commission’s Returning Officer at Chatswood this afternoon.

The Liberal Party secured close to 65 per cent of the two-party-preferred vote.

Mr Fletcher said that with the poll declared, he is now able to get to work as the Federal Member for Bradfield. He will be working out of the electorate office in Tryon Road, Lindfield, formerly occupied by his predecessor, the Hon. Dr Brendan Nelson.

“If anybody in Bradfield needs my assistance as their local member, I urge them to contact me in the electorate office.”

Mr Fletcher’s contact details will be:
