Coalition’s Disability Policies Discussed at Yesterday’s Policy Forum

The National Disability Insurance Scheme was the key issue for discussion at a Disability Forum hosted by Paul Fletcher MP, Federal Member for Bradfield yesterday.

The forum was attended by over 50 local residents and representatives of local disability organisations and schools who came to hear Shadow Minister for Disabilities, Carers and the Voluntary Sector, Senator Mitch Fifield, outline the Coalition’s plans for the Disabilities Sector.

Senator Fifield fielded questions on a variety of topics and was able to explain in detail how the NDIS will affect local communities and individuals in Bradfield.

Senator Fifield also stressed the bi-partisanship that exists towards the NDIS. Addresses

‘So often the community, for good reason, isn’t particularly thrilled by the performance of our parliaments. But I think the NDIS is a demonstration of the Australian Parliament at their best, operating the way that they should. For my part as the spokesman for the Federal Coalition on disability, I’m pleased that we have strongly, and without hesitation, supported each milestone on the road to the NDIS’, Senator Fifield said.

Mr Fletcher said ‘We are lucky that the Bradfield Community has so many wonderful Disability Organisations and Schools that providing vital services to those living with a disability and their families’

‘I thank all those who attended the forum for their continued advocacy and interest in this important area’.
