Member for Bradfield Paul Fletcher MP welcomed the Hon Bruce Billson MP, Minister for Small Business to Bradfield today.

The Minister visited local small businesses and participated in a forum with a number of local small business operators and business representative organisations.

“Small business is critical to our economy and it was a great opportunity for a range of different businesses to spend time with the Minister discussing and debating issues of concern,” Mr Fletcher said.

“Bradfield is home to more than 16,000 small businesses – each one providing employment, skills training and services to people in our area and beyond.

“The industry sectors represented in Bradfield are as varied as you could imagine – everything from agricultural supplies and food service to technology and professional services – demonstrating the vitality of the sector.

“Interestingly – of the rich mix of businesses in Bradfield – the top three sectors include : professional, scientific and technical businesses; financial and insurance services firms; and rental, hiring and real estate businesses,” Mr Fletcher said.

Commenting on the visit Minister Billson said discussion at the forum focused on how the Federal Government can better support small business.

“Hearing the field evidence from small businesses on the ground is important feedback to ensure we can continue our work to make Australia the best place to start and grow a small business.

“As part of the Budget we are working on a jobs and small business package in which we will see tax cuts for small business as an incentive for them to invest and employ in their local communities,” Mr Billson said.

The Small Business Forum was held in Mr Fletcher’s electoral office in Lindfield.
