Bradfield Anzac Centenary Local Grants Program – local groups urged to apply

Federal Member for Bradfield Paul Fletcher today urged local community groups and schools to bring forward proposals for funding under the Anzac Centenary Local Grants Program.

Speaking at a briefing session to local community groups and schools, Mr Fletcher said that the Coalition Government had increased funding available for projects to commemorate the Centenary of Anzac to $125,000 per electorate.

‘The Centenary of Anzac will be the most significant national period of commemoration in our nation’s history’, Mr Fletcher said.

‘The Bradfield Centenary of Anzac Working Party, chaired by Major Rod White AM RFD (Ret’d), has been formed to aid local preparations and commemorations for the Centenary of Anzac, as well as oversee the allocation of the Anzac Centenary Local Grants Program for the Bradfield Electorate.

‘There are many different kinds of commemorative projects that could be envisaged – from traditional dawn services and marches of veterans, through to re-enactments of recruiting marches, school-based education programmes, refurbishing of memorials and honour boards, and the establishment of new places of commemoration and reflection’.

Mr Fletcher said applications for grants to fund local projects would need to be received in his office by 31 March 2014. They will be assessed by the Bradfield Centenary of Anzac Working Party. This will allow the winning proposals to be submitted to the Department of Veteran’s Affairs by the deadline of 31 May 2014.
