Parking arrangements around the UTS Lindfield Campus

Parking arrangements around the UTS Lindfield Campus

Recent changes to the parking arrangements at the UTS Lindfield campus have led to many more students parking on local streets. Residents have expressed concerns about problems which have arisen as a result.

I have written to the Vice Chancellor of the UTS; visited the campus to view current and former parking lots; obtained a briefing from the Deputy Vice Chancellor of UTS; visited the surrounding streets; and obtaineda briefing from the Managing Director of the organisation currently undertaking construction work on the site where UTS used to have its car parks, Defence Housing Authority (DHA).

On 9 May 2013 I wrote to approximately 1200 residents in the streets surrounding the campus, providing an update on the situation and seeking feedback. I received 68 responses, a high response rate for letters of this kind.

I have written again to UTS, Council and DHA requesting that they consider the feedback and suggestions received and rapidly develop an action plan to address residents’ concerns.

I have now received a response from the Acting Vice Chancellor of UTS, describing UTS’ plans to work with Council and DHA to address the issues raised.

You can see copies of the following documents attached:

  • My letter to residents dated 9 May 2013
  • Letter from Ku-ring-gai Council dated 30 May 2013
  • My letter to residents who provided feedback dated 14 June 2013
  • Summary of the feedback received dated 14 June 2013
  • Letter from the Acting Vice-Chancellor of UTS dated 21 June 2013

I intend to continue to keep a close eye on this issue and will advise of any further significant developments.
