Joint Media Release: New Respiratory Clinic Now Open in Roseville

Member for Bradfield, Paul Fletcher MP has attended the opening of a new GP-led respiratory clinic in Roseville, funded by the Federal Government.

The respiratory clinic has been established with the support of the doctors and nurses at Belmont Medical Practice in Roseville, led by Dr Navaz Hiramanek, and with the assistance of the Sydney North Health Network.

“I am very pleased that respected local GP Dr Navaz Hiramanek has established this clinic, with support from Federal Government funding.” Mr Fletcher said. “It is great news for anybody living or working in Roseville or surrounding areas who may be worried about exposure to the virus.”

Mr Fletcher has stressed the need for everyone to be tested regardless of how mild their symptoms are. The ability to conduct large scale testing is critical in quickly identifying and containing outbreaks.

“The message from health authorities is clear, if you have even the slightest of symptoms, go and get tested.” Mr Fletcher stated.

“Sydney North Health Network has worked closely with the Commonwealth’s Department of Health, the local health district and general practices to identify suitable clinics across the Northern Sydney region to ensure our community is well supported during this period” says Lynelle Hales, CEO, Sydney North Health Network.

The GP led Respiratory clinic was developed to assess people with mild-moderate respiratory symptoms and test and diagnose cases including COVID-19, influenza and pneumonia. This gives patients the opportunity to meet a GP and have a complete respiratory assessment.

The clinic’s aim is to take the pressure off local NSW Hospital emergency departments needing to prioritise severe health cases, and relieve pressure on general practices, enabling them to continue to safely care for patients for non-respiratory related conditions.

Lynelle Hales, CEO, Sydney North Health Network continued, “It’s important to consult with your regular GP or allied health carer on your physical or mental health concerns, no matter how small you think these are. Please don’t leave your health issues unchecked. Local, dedicated health services are open for your consultation and are working to help you remain safe over this time.”

The Roseville Respiratory Clinic is open to all patients and is a free service (including non-Medicare card holders). Appointments only - no walk ins; no GP referral is required.  Bookings may be made online or by telephone: 0434 189 047.
