Assisted Dying Legislation

I have recently been contacted by a number of constituents regarding the Restoring Territory Rights (Assisted Suicide Legislation) Bill and the possibility of a conscience vote.

The bill itself is concerned with the rights of the Northern Territory and ACT to self-legislate on the issue of voluntary assisted dying. As such, any conscience vote would not determine the legality of this practice, but whether the right of territories to make their own laws concerning euthanasia should be restored.

As it happens, the bill was defeated in the Senate.
