Investors defrauded of $176 million in Trio collapse, parliamentary committee finds
Over 6000 Australian superannuation and other investors were defrauded of $176 million in the Trio scandal according to a Parliamentary Committee report just released, Member for Bradfield Paul Fletcher said today.
Mr Fletcher, a member of the Parliament's Corporations and Financial Services Committee, said the Committee began its inquiry last year on his recommendation, after he was approached by constituents who had lost money in the collapse of Trio.

North Shore Times: Around 300 turn up to protest Turramurra Post Office closure

IF Australia Post thought they could close Turramurra Post Office without an outcry from residents, the huge turnout at today’s meeting will have set them straight.
An estimated 300 people, many of them seniors, queued up outside Turramurra Seniors Centre to have their say on the closure scheduled to happen on January 28.
In the end only half the crowd managed to get into the modestly-sized building.
The rest had to stand outside and listen to proceedings over the loudspeaker.
Senior Australia Post executive Christine Corbett had the unenviable job of explaining the reasons for the closure to the unhappy crowd.
The meeting was organised by Federal MP for Bradfield Paul Fletcher and his staff who were taken by surprise by the turn-out.
NSW Opposition Leader and Ku-ring-gai MP Barry O’Farrell - himself a Turramurra post box holder- also turned up after his office was inundated with complaints about the closure.
