  • Schoolkids Bonus Budget Measures

Mr FLETCHER (Bradfield) (10:51): I am pleased to rise to speak on the Family Assistance and Other Legislation Amendment (Schoolkids Bonus Budget Measures) Bill 2012. Let me start by noting that the process under which the House of Representatives is being asked to consider this bill is a deeply deficient one. National Volunteer Week 2010 – Fletcher Recognises Volunteers

Member for Bradfield, Paul Fletcher, today paid tribute to all the volunteers throughout the North Shore for their outstanding contribution to Australian society as part of National Volunteer Week, which runs from 10 to 16 May.

“Volunteers are the backbone of many organisations and our communities would not be the same without them,” Mr Fletcher said.

“Volunteers perform a range of important work every day in many areas including emergency services, sports, community health care, heritage and arts, environment conservation, education and training.

“National Volunteer Week provides a platform to pay tribute to these volunteers who give generously of their time and energy to benefit others and their communities.”

The 2010 National Volunteer Week theme “Volunteering: Now more than ever” aims to promote the value of volunteers and highlight, now, more than ever, the importance of volunteering in the Australian community.

“National Volunteer Week is an opportunity for us all to thank, recognise and show our appreciation and support to the five million plus Australian volunteers for their sacrifices, hard work and valuable contribution they make.

“I encourage all Australians to do whatever they can to support volunteers, get involved in National Volunteer Week 2010 and find out more about opportunities to contribute to their local communities.”
