Australia Post has closed the Turramurra Post Office as of Friday 28 January.

In my statement posted after last Wednesday’s community meeting concerning Turramurra Post Office, I said that I was expecting a written update from Australia Post and I would inform the Turramurra community once I received it.

On Friday evening I received a letter from Australia Post’s Executive General Manager Retail Services, Ms Christine Corbett.  A copy of her letter is available here.

The key points from the letter are that:

Thank you to nearly 300 Turramurra residents and business people who today attended a community meeting to voice their concern about Australia Post’s plans to close Turramurra Post Office.

The response was overwhelming – and a powerful demonstration to Australia Post of the depth of community feeling.

I decided to convene this meeting after several constituents contacted me in mid December with their concerns – and after I received unsatisfactory answers from Australia Post. 

At my request, Australia Post sent a very senior executive, Christine Corbett, Executive General Manager Retail (reporting directly to Australia Post’s Chief Executive.)

Australia Post must stop giving the community the brush-off over Turramurra Post Office – and instead start genuine consultation.

The guests were presented with their names translated and written in Chinese calligraphy, as well as a Chinese Lunar Calendar.

Paul congratulated students from Sydney Grammar School and Pymble Ladies' College who participated in this year's Physics, Chemistry & Biology Olympiads at Parliament House in Canberra.

Paul at Hornsby Hospital, accepting a petition signed by over 30,000 locals calling for the hospital to be rebuilt. Paul will table it in Parliament.

Bradfield is the fourth highest taxed electorate in Australia – and Labor’s latest budget offers no relief in sight for the hard pressed taxpayers of Bradfield.

Instead, Labor has just kept going with its reckless spending spree.

Paul joined Turramurra Rotary's Graffiti Hit Squad on Saturday May 1 and Sunday May 2 to help fight graffiti in Bradfield.

"I joined the Rotary crew as we worked to scrub away graffiti in Turramurra," Mr Fletcher said.

ANZAC Day was marked in Bradfield by many solemn remembrance ceremonies. 

Member for Bradfield Paul Fletcher attended the dawn service at Roseville Memorial Club, followed by services during the day at Wahroonga War Memorial, Turramurra War Memorial and Kokoda Ave Wahroonga.

Staff and parents from several schools for special needs students, including St Lucy’s and St Edmund’s in Wahroonga, went to Canberra to highlight the funding cutbacks these schools have suffered recently.  Paul joined the group as they marched up the hill to Parliament House.

Paul Fletcher spoke in Federal Parliament yesterday to demand a fair go for Hornsby Hospital - the major public hospital in Bradfield.

Mr Fletcher told the Parliament that the hospital has fine medical staff who work in difficult circumstances because much of the hospital is in very poor condition.
