First Round Win To The Community. Now Let’s Fight For Round Two.

“Congratulations to the Ku-ring-gai Residents Alliance in securing a people power win against over-development in our community,” said Paul Fletcher, Liberal candidate for the seat of Bradfield, said today.

“It is welcome news that Alliance President, Chris Drummer, has received a commitment from the government that it will cap new dwellings at 10,000 for Ku-ring-gai.”

“The fact that it took such a battle from the community to get this response from the Planning Minister, Kristina Keneally, is a powerful indication of the problems in Labor’s planning culture.”

“This is a victory for the community in round one, now we must fight for round two.”

“After all, for Labor to make the promise is one thing – for them to stick to the promise is something quite different.”

“It seems there is a disturbing lack of clarity as to exactly which dwellings are currently included in the count.”

“I have written today to Minister Keneally asking her to clarify what the figure is.”

“I will continue to support the community in working to have planning power put back into local hands.”

“That is vital if we are to end Labor’s disastrous approach to planning in Ku-ring-gai today – under which we are seeing family homes boxed in by high rise buildings, with our green space and treescape destroyed.”

“I will be fighting hard with Member for Ku-ring-gai, Barry O’Farrell and the community, to take a stand on this very important issue for the people of Bradfield,” said Mr Fletcher.
