The residents of Bradfield will have to endure more over-crowded train services, due to Labor’s new timetables, said Paul Fletcher, Liberal candidate for Bradfield.

“This is an appalling decision, when many people are trying to do the right thing and leave their car at home and take public transport,” said Mr Fletcher.

“I know how frustrated people are about the over-crowding on trains. To now reduce services on the North Shore and Northern Lines will only the make the situation worse.”

North Shore services are being cut by up to 20 per cent at some stations and seven peak services on the Northern Line have been cut.

There are now 300 fewer daily rail services across CityRail than four years ago.

“This is an even more ludicrous situation, considering the additional development Labor is forcing on Ku-ring-gai, particularly areas in close proximity to public transport.”

“It’s just going to mean more people opting to drive on the increasingly jammed roads.”

“What we are seeing in Bradfield is the result of Labor Governments at a Federal and State level failing to invest in important public transport infrastructure in this state.”

“The rail system has been run down, train upgrades not met and the most significant project, the Epping to Chatswood rail line doubling in cost and only going half the distance.”

“If that project had been properly managed, there would be hundreds of millions of dollars which could have been spent on increasing other train services, not cutting them.”

“I join with Member for Ku-ring-gai, State Opposition Leader Barry O’Farrell, and Member for Willoughby and Shadow Transport Minister Gladys Berejiklian in condemning these changes.”

“Unfortunately, the over-crowding will only get worse when students return to school next week,” said Mr Fletcher.
