Fletcher welcomes progress on redevelopment of Hornsby Hospital

Paul Fletcher, Federal Member for Bradfield, welcomed yesterday’s public release of concept plans for the first stage of works for an upgrade of Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital.

“I congratulate the O’Farrell Government – and the NSW Health Minister, Jillian Skinner, and the State Member for Hornsby, Matt Kean – on the progress they are making.

“Yesterday’s public release of the concept plan is an important milestone.

“The O’Farrell Government has committed $50 million towards this project.

“This progress from the NSW Liberal Government is in stark contrast to the neglect of Hornsby Hospital by both the former State Labor government and the current federal Labor government.

“No funding has been made available from the federal Heath and Hospitals fund for Hornsby Hospital.

“The federal Minister for Health and Ageing, Nicola Roxon, has not made the effort to even visit Hornsby Hospital – despite me writing to encourage her to do so.

“This is despite a petition with 30,000 signatures that I presented to the federal Parliament in June 2010 calling for an urgent upgrade of Hornsby Hospital.”
